Yoga and Dance in Dresden

Why Yoga?

The word “Yoga” comes from Sanskrit, one of the oldest written languages in the world, and means “union.” It refers to the merging of different elements: sun and moon, yin and yang, body and mind, or the individual self with the universe.
The first recorded yoga practices appeared in India about 5,000 years ago.
Yoga is not tied to any specific religion — it is a path that anyone can follow who seeks a healthy and fulfilling life.
The postures and movements in yoga are never reached through force, but through proper breathing. They train both the body and the mind. Unlike many sports, yoga is free of competition. The focus is on sensing your own body, its unique needs and abilities — which makes yoga a deeply personal experience.
Yoga helps you stay calm and centered even under physical or emotional stress. And anyone who practices yoga, even once a week, will soon feel its wonderful effects.
“One gram of practice is worth more than a hundred tons of theory,”
said Swami Sivananda, to whom we owe the spread of yoga in the West.

About me

My name is Makhina Dzhuraeva. I was born in 1990 in Tajikistan and moved to Russia with my family at the age of 10. From an early age, my life has been closely connected to the arts: I studied music, dance, and theatre, which shaped my understanding of the body and movement.

Since the age of 16, I have been working professionally in theatre, participating in stage productions and performances, and studying dance and physical theatre directing. Since 2011, I have been working with the renowned DEREVO Theatre in Germany under the direction of Anton Adasinsky, performing in all productions and creating my own solo projects. Working in the theatre has taught me to deeply feel the body, space, and movement — skills that I joyfully bring to my yoga classes.

My yoga practice combines breathing techniques (pranayama), work with bandhas (“body locks”), and conscious movement inspired by my experience in dance and theatre. In my classes, we develop flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, and mindful body awareness. Regular practice strengthens deep, often underused muscles, stabilizes the spine, and opens new possibilities for movement.

My classes address all dimensions — physical, energetic, emotional, and intellectual. Each session concludes with a deep shavasana incorporating elements of Yoga Nidra. The practice is suitable for all levels: I always adapt it individually to each student, regardless of experience.

I believe that yoga is not just a set of exercises, but a path to mindfulness, harmony, and freedom of body and spirit. My classes create a space where art, movement, and breath come together to help you find inner balance, develop strength and ease, and experience the joy of movement.

Classes are conducted in Russian and English.
